I’ve been asked how I pick character names, well here’s my answer.

In my Dead Red series I picked what I considered as solid names for the two men who would continue in this series: Caleb Stone (strong and quiet) and Noah Bains (Biblical patriarch). I wrote up names for my woman protagonist, and crossed them out again and again, until I came across a Lalla. I liked it! And If you’ve read the series, you might remember that Lalla is named after her great aunt, Eula Mae Bains, who shows up periodically with her granddaughter, Pearlie Bains. And why the name Pearlie? This was my dad’s favorite aunt. A Texas girl whose laugh is bigger than her shoe size.
