Hi, everyone,

Verity’s book has a title, cover, and release date! Below is the cover and back copy of Accidentally His, which I realize doesn’t match the previous two covers, but is quite attractive, nonetheless. I think you’ll like Rafe Wolfford for Verity. At least he can keep up with her! The book will be out on January 23, 2024. I know that seems like a long way off, but it’s really only eight months away.

Y’all may have noticed that I’m slowing down a bit. To be honest, with my father in a nursing home, our severely disabled autistic adult son living with us, and some health challenges I’m working through, I can’t do anything else. Writing books is harder than it looks, especially when the very act of sitting in a chair and writing causes me physical pain. So, although I just agreed to write three more historical romances for Kensington, I’ll be writing them at a slower pace. But look on the bright side—that gives you a chance to catch up with either my earlier stuff or other romance writers’ books! There are some great writers out there, and I’ll try to suggest titles from time to time.

Thanks for supporting my work for the past thirty-plus years. Your emails and comments on Facebook and Instagram always lift me up and make me glad I’m writing for all of you. Y’all really are the best readers ever, so thank you!

Big hugs,

Designing Debutantes Book 3 Available for Pre-order!

The creative force behind the ton’s most dazzling events, the three sisters of Elegant Occasions know plenty about fashion, food, and the perfect setting—but there is always more to learn about love . . .

As a viscount’s heir, Rafe Wolfford is obligated to take a wife someday. But she must be the right sort of wife—not too independent, and not inclined to delve into his escapades as a spy. The forthright, perceptive Lady Verity is altogether the wrong choice. But Rafe’s courtship is merely a ruse to discover whether Verity or anyone else associated with Elegant Occasions is leaking crucial information to the French. That mission is all that matters—until fate, and desire, intervene.

After enduring one disastrous engagement, Verity won’t easily open her heart again, preferring to devote herself to Elegant Occasions. Rafe is charming, handsome, and kisses like the very devil, but she knows he’s harboring secrets. Still, when her ex-fiancé tries to ruin her reputation, Rafe offers his hand. For the sake of her family and business, Verity has little choice but to accept. Yet turning this arrangement into a true marriage will require daring and trust—which neither will embrace easily, making surrender all the sweeter . . .

Speaking of pre-orders…

Pocket Books will release To Wed A Wild Lord, the fourth book in my Hellions of Halstead Hall series, next month with a gorgeous, new cover! Lord Gabriel graced the original cover when the book first came out more than a decade ago, but Virginia Waverly finally has her day in the sun on the updated version. The vibrant green perfectly suits this fun and feisty heroine. Want to collect all of the new covers in the Hellions series? So far, the publisher has already released The Truth About Lord Stoneville, A Hellion in Her Bed, and How To Woo a Reluctant Lady, and To Wed a Wild Lord is coming July 25. I haven’t heard about timing for a new cover for A Lady Never Surrenders, the last book in the series, but I’ll let you know when I do!

Regency Tidbit

Accidentally His is my foodie book, if there ever was one. After all, food is Verity’s life. In the process of researching, I’ve discovered this wonderful site called The Foods of England Project, which contains 60 out-of-print historical cookbooks, and thousands of recipes and dishes, with their histories. One of the dishes I used for the book is Mussel and Onion Stew, which is Rafe’s favorite. It comes from the West Country, which is where Rafe grew up and Verity’s father still lives. I’m not fond of mussels myself (which is odd, because I like just about every other shellfish), but I stumbled across the recipe and thought it might be fun to include. And there’s Duke’s Custard at the end of the book! (Literally—it shows up in the epilogue, but I call it trifle because that’s really what it is.) Now, that’s one I’d love to try.
