About this ebook

When off-duty deputy Cooper Robinson happens upon a car balanced on the edge of a cliff, he does everything he can think of to distract the distraught driver from her perilous situation—and the attraction is instantaneous. The problem? She’s his brother’s new girlfriend.

When Katelyn Loveland’s car veered off a winding Appalachian Mountain road, she thought she was done for. That is until Cooper Robinson, local sheriff’s deputy, came to her rescue. And though Katie narrowly escaped her brush with death, she still fell. Hard.

She wasn’t the only one. But soon Cooper learns that the woman he’s more attracted to than any he’s ever met is his brother’s new girlfriend—and therefore unquestionably off limits. Yet, despite their best efforts, Cooper and Katie can’t seem to avoid running into each other. Or ignore the undeniable chemistry between them.

As they grow closer, Katie shares secrets from her past and the real reason she moved to their small North Carolina town. She also wins over Cooper’s welcoming and bighearted family. But they don’t know that her feelings for Cooper keep growing—all while she’s dating his brother. Soon the stakes of their emotional connection become higher than either could have imagined.

Katie stands to lose the first family she’s ever had, and a scandal could doom Cooper’s campaign for sheriff. Suddenly they find themselves on the edge of another precipice—and they’re forced to make a decision that could change their lives forever.

This is the first book I've read by this author. I've heard many good things about her books so I was anxious to read this. I really liked her style of writing and enjoyed the location she chose to write about. I found the Appalachian Trail area fascinating! I did like the characters themselves and found each one had a great depth to them. However, the "love triangle" bothered me. Katelyn is dating Cooper's brother but when she first meets him, she doesn't know that and neither does he. There is a definite spark there though. Katelyn and the brother aren't highly invested in their relationship yet but still, she continues to date him after moving to a new town where his family lives. She does try to make it work but is continually drawn to Cooper. Cooper has never felt about a woman the way he feels about Katelyn. Because she's dating his brother, he tries to stay away from her but it's hard when she's always at family activities. They always seem to get pushed together. I couldn't understand why Katelyn didn't just drop the brother! She should have been honest with him at that point. The story still could have been interesting and taken different turns but with her still dating the brother and yet having feelings for Cooper, it was basically cheating. It was uncomfortable. I wished I could enjoy it but I didn't. I felt for Katelyn in the end when she was shunned but it was her fault for not breaking up with the brother! I would love to read other stories in the series because I liked the other characters, just not this premise!
